Recognizing the vitiligo community, World Vitiligo Day was first celebrated in 2011 and has since become a global event with the purpose of raising awareness and recognition of the bullying, social neglect, psychological trauma and disability of the millions of people affected by vitiligo. In 2016 vitiligo organizations across the U.S. met in Washington, D.C. for the first World Vitiligo-USA celebration of the event (see 2016 WVD-USA for more information). Following years included Detroit, MI in 2017, 2018 in Worcester, MA and 2019 in Houston, Texas. This year, more than 200 people will convene in Minneapolis, MI for the US celebration.
