Friday, June 23

The commencement of WVD – USA 2023 was marked by an exhilarating tour of the Tyler Perry Studios. Participants had the opportunity to explore the studios, stroll around, and capture memorable moments. In the evening, another chance for socializing arose as attendees attended the Atlanta Dream WNBA game, where the Global Vitiligo Foundation was prominently featured as the non-profit of the game!

Saturday June 24

On Saturday, the day kicked off with a breakfast buffet, offering a chance to mingle with vendors and engage in wellness through a yoga class. The A-Team then extended a warm welcome and introduced the keynote speaker, Mr. Lee Thomas. Dr. John Harris provided an insightful update on recent discoveries in Vitiligo, shedding light on new treatments and encouraging attendee participation in a study. Following this, Dr. Amit Pandya delved into the latest updates on Vitiligo treatment, while Dr. Pearl Grimes dispelled misconceptions about phototherapy, leading to engaging roundtable discussions with the physicians. Post-lunch, Lid’ya Rivera spearheaded a Women’s Breakout, Terrell Midgett facilitated a Men’s Breakout, and Sharon King continued her work with the attending children. After the breakout sessions, all participants reconvened for a joint session, followed by a MyVitiligoTeam update from CEO Eric Peacock, and a Vitiligo Community Update featuring Kimberly Boyd, VP of Vitiligo Support, and Global Vitiligo Foundation Treasurer Dr. Richard Huggins. The day concluded with an ice cream social.

Saturday evening wrapped up with a networking cocktail hour, the Incyte Ingenuity Awards, and the Purple Affair, where attendees adorned themselves in their favorite purple attire!

Sunday, June 25

Sunday kicked off with breakfast buffet with friends. Following the morning meal, participants had the chance to view the Faces of Vitiligo Documentary and engage in a discussion session with its creator, Denise Powell. Subsequent to the documentary screening, Sharon King presented a video crafted during the weekend, documenting the experiences of the children present with vitiligo. To conclude the gathering, the A-Team offered reflections on the weekend and expressed gratitude to all attendees.
